This wedding. Where do I even begin?
Jen is about to give birth and only NOW am I writing and posting about their wedding day. Let's just say that blogging was never at the top of my list, but COVID-19 has forced me to re-evaluate and try out some new things.
I ALSO THOUGHT THAT I WILL START WITH THEIR WEDDING BECAUSE WE ALL NEED SOME HAPPY MEMORIES AND PRETTY THINGS RIGHT NOW!
Jen and Evan got married at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort in January 2019! We were blessed with beautiful weather and excitement was surely in the air. Daniel and I were visiting from Germany and I felt extremely honored that Jen and Evan asked me to be part of their day.
WHEN JEN TOLD US THAT SHE MET "SOMEONE" I INSTANTLY KNEW THAT THIS MUST BE A VERY VERY SPECIAL MAN! FIRST OF ALL JEN IS A GO GETTER WOMAN OF GOD AND SHE WAS ON A 1 YEAR JOURNEY OF SELF DISCOVERY AND SECONDLY, HER DAD, PAT, IS ONE INCREDIBLE FATHER, HUSBAND, AND MAN. I KNEW THAT HE RAISED BOTH HIS DAUGHTERS TO RESPECT AND LOVE THEMSELVES AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD NEVER SETTLE FOR JUST ANY MAN. WHEN I MET EVAN FOR THE FIRST TIME, I WAS LIKE AAAAAH OK! I GET IT. EVAN IS FUNNY, KIND, EXTREMELY HANDY AND HE KNOWS EXACTLY HOW TO BE THE BEST PARTNER FOR MY BEAUTIFUL AND AMBITIOUS FRIEND.
Jen and I go back many years. We met when I first moved to Chicago in 2013. I've spent some time at their lakehouse and her parents are one of the most special and generous couples I know. I remember one time I was visiting from Germany and I stayed at Jen's place and the way she talked about Evan and their story touched my heart. They truly have such a beautiful and blessed story.
Their wedding day was definitely a representation of all the things they love. FAMILY everywhere, friends in the bridal suite, the guys hanging out and enjoying a beer together. Jen and Evan's first look was so special and I remember when we were waiting on the bridge for Jen. I was tearing up because I could see Jen in the background and Evan was right in front of me and I could see that he was totally at peace and so ready to be married to my friend!
Since the weather was absolutely beautiful we were able to take all of the portraits outside. This definitely contributed to a whole lot of natural smiles and a lot of enthusiasm.
Surrounded by their family and friends in a dark, romantic glasshouse filled with candles and soft lights, they both promised to love each other and choose each other every day. Jen and Evan also wrote letters to their parents and let's just say that there was not a dry eye in the house.
The rest of the night was filled with amazing music, delicious food, and great speeches!
Overall, I love this couple and their families. It was such an honor to be asked to photograph their wedding and be trusted since this was my very first time photographing a wedding.
Jen and Evan, may you always be as happy as on your wedding day! Within a couple of weeks, you will hold your sweet baby.
